I’m sorry but you’re wrong. It’s driving me nuts hearing this.

You are a hero.

Being scared makes you more so.

Not less.

You’re doing something amazing during this crisis despite fear, despite risk.

What am I doing? I am lucky to be able to continue working and I am hugely grateful for technology. But working at what? Nothing that ever did anyone any good.

You on the other hand, do amazing things to help people every day of your career. Now and before coronavirus in your usual career.

Please don’t slough off the title of hero.

The rest of us couldn’t imagine facing the day with fear and getting through it as you do.

Actually helping people. Real people. Real helping.

Take the title. Put it in your pocket and take it out in a decade when you can look back on this with genuine perspective.

If people like you aren’t heroes then the rest of us don’t deserve a single virus-free breath.
